HMV has become the leading entertainment retailer in the UK. With a presence online, they have become the port of call for people looking to purchase everything from the latest game to an obscure CD. The company opened its first store way back in 1921 on London‘s Oxford Street and has worked hard ever since to make music and entertainment available to its customers in pretty much every format. From the days of the LP, to today where digital downloads are becoming increasingly popular, HMV has been there to supply millions with the entertainment they crave.

In recent years however, the marketplace in which HMV operates has become increasingly crowded. With more and more people turning their back on physical entertainment releases in favour of digital downloads and shopping online, HMV has had to diversify in order to keep a healthy flow of consumers buying their products. The shift in demand has seen HMV focus more of its attention towards online sales. An increase in online sales has seen the demand for information surrounding the HMV returns policy also increase.

So, in order to clear up any confusion, we’ve put together a guide on HMV parcel returns at Parcel Delivery, along with all the information you require in order to return your shipment safely as well as receive an exchange or a refund.

The HMV returns policy in place falls under the general policy for HMV returns. If you receive a product as a gift, or you simply decide that you no longer want the product you’ve purchased from HMV’s online store, HMV will be more than happy to accept a return for the item. One thing you have to make sure of, however, is that the item you are arranging HMV returns for within fourteen days of the date which will be printed on your proof of purchase. You should be able to access your proof of purchase via the ‘My Account’ section of the HMV website. Alternatively, you can check the date on your order confirmation email which you should have received shortly after completing the order.

To make sure your product return is processed correctly, you will need to include a returns form in the package. The HMV returns team has made the form available on their site so it’s just a case of downloading it, printing it off, filling it out and remembering to put it in the package before you return your products via courier. With all returns for unwanted HMV products, whether it’s a game, a CD a DVD or something else entirely, the product will have to be unopened and in perfect condition. If you use the product (e.g playing the DVD or CD), even just once, before you decide to send it back, you will no longer qualify for a full refund under HMV’s terms and conditions.

Alternatively, if you find that your item is either damaged, faulty or that it’s simply incorrect, you will have to contact HMV directly in order to get the issue resolved. For online orders placed through HMV’s official website, you will have to email [email protected]. To make sure the online orders customer service team is able to help you properly, you will need to provide them with every detail regarding the nature of the issue. You will also need to include your order number, which you can find on your proof of purchase, in the email. Once you have sent the email, HMV will endeavour to get back to you as quickly as possible with instructions over what to do next.

HMV state that they aim to process all refunds within two to five working days of the item or items being returned to them. If you have checked your bank statement and have still yet to receive a refund 14 days after HMV received the unwanted item, make sure you send an email to [email protected] to chase it up. Once again, you will need your order number along with details of the returned item.

    Return Your HMV Parcel

For all HMV parcel returns, the process is fairly straightforward. You will need to make sure you have completed and included the returns form, which is available directly from the HMV site, before you post the item to HMV. As part of the HMV returns policy, the store doesn’t accept any responsibility for any returned products which are either damaged or lost during transit. That means it’s vital that you not only package the item as securely as possible, but that you also obtain proof of postage.

Items you plan on returning are sent to HMV’s Birmingham based warehouse. For the exact address where your parcel needs to be returned to, you can consult the FAQ section of the HMV website. We recommend that you check the address thoroughly before you return your parcel as an incorrect address could result in your items becoming lost during transit or returned to you, meaning you’ll have to pay for postage twice.

A common misconception with HMV is that any unwanted item can be returned to one of HMV’s many stores in towns and cities throughout the UK. In fact, if you have placed your order online through the official site of HMV, the staff in store will not be able to process your refund for you. That means you’ll have to send your unwanted item to the Birmingham based warehouse in order to secure a full refund. The HMV parcel returns team aim to process all refunds within just two to five days after they receive the returned item in their warehouse, so you shouldn’t have to wait too long once you’ve sent the item off along with the returns form in a secure package.

    HMV Couriers

For all online orders, HMV use Royal Mail to carry out the delivery. There are a range of delivery options available to all customers, allowing you to make a choice based on how quickly you need your items to arrive. Free standard delivery is available if you place an order of £10 or more. For orders placed with standard delivery, HMV will send the game via Second Class Royal Mail, and you can expect the game to be with you within two to five working days, assuming the item is in stock at the time of purchase.

If you need your purchases to arrive sooner, customers are able to choose the Royal Mail Tracked 48 service at the time of purchase. This costs £4.95 per order placed, and will ensure delivery is completed within two working days. It’s worth noting however that all items sent using the Royal Mail Tracked 48 option will need to be signed for upon delivery, so you’ll need to ensure you are in and able to receive the delivery. If, for any reason Royal Mail can’t deliver your item to you, they may attempt delivery to a neighbour, alternatively your item will be held at the local Royal Mail Delivery Office for you to collect. Full details of where your item is and what you need to do in order to receive it will be left for you on a ‘something for you’ card.

Finally, if you choose the Tracked 48 service, in order to guarantee your item arrives within two working days, you will need to place your order before 2pm. Items ordered after this time may take an additional day to be delivered.

    Tracking Your HMV Order

Unfortunately, tracking is not available on any item order placed with standard delivery. In order to track your item, you will need to select the Royal Mail Tracked 48 option during the purchase process. You will get a unique tracking code when you place your order which you can use on the Royal Mail website to check up on where your item is at any given time.
